Grande America<\/em>, press release n\u00b08<\/p>\n

Following Robin des Bois\u2019 letter to the Secretary-General for the Sea requesting communication of the list of hazardous and non-hazardous materials loaded on the Grande America<\/em>, a meeting was held today in Brest at the Atlantic Maritime Prefecture. Below is the list provided by the authorities, which includes more than 1,050 tons of hazardous materials.<\/p>\n

Robin des Bois thanks the Atlantic Maritime Prefecture and the Secretary-General for the Sea for releasing this manifest, which is a first in the history of world maritime accidents.<\/p>\n

Dangerous goods, according to International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG), and estimated quantity (tons):
\n<\/strong>720 tons of hydrochloric acid
\n85 tons of sodium hydrosulfide [Used, for example, to precipitate heavy metals, for the tanning of hides and as a bleaching agent. Very toxic to aquatic organisms.]<\/span>

\n25 tons of prothioconazole [Fungicide. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, causes long-term adverse effects.]<\/span>

\n2.2 tons of polyether siloxane [Polymerization agent used for instance in the cosmetics industry.]
