What is the future for the Sao Paulo, ex-Foch?

Update of September 8: since yesterday evening, the convoy of the ex-Foch towed by the ALP Centre reports as new destination Rio de Janeiro, her port of departure. Since September 2, she was waiting on orders. The convoy is now back to normal speed around 7 knots (about 13 km/h). If all goes well, the convoy should arrive in Rio de Janeiro at the end of the month

Update of September 4: the Foch turned back this evening, Sunday September 4, at 7:50 pm off Casablanca.

The ex-Foch, twin of the Clemenceau, on her way to the scrapyard in Türkiye

The tug ALP Centre is towing the Brazilian aircraft carrier Sao Paulo, ex-Foch and sistership of the Clemenceau, on her last voyage. The convoy left Rio de Janeiro on August 4, crossed the Atlantic and is currently off the Western Sahara. It is heading to Aliaga, Türkiye, where it is expected to arrive around September 12. Brazil is sending a dirty gift to the Turkish working class community and to the Aegean Sea. The Sao Paulo is expected to be scrapped by the EU-approved Sök Denizcilik yard. Sök Denizcilik regularly receives navy vessels, particularly from the United Kingdom.

Following the exclusive page of Robin des Bois making an inventory of all the cargo ships stucked in the ports of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov (20th of April 2022), the Paris-based NGO publishes from today detailed information on bulk carriers leaving or approaching the ukrainian ports in the context of the international agreement on the freedom of trade in grain and other agri-food products from Ukraine.
