After 17 years of discussions, pillaging and smuggling, three first species of sea cucumbers were listed this morning in CITES’ Appendix II to control their international trade : teatfish.

The proposal by Chad, Senegal, Niger, the Central African Republic, Kenya and Mali to monitor the international trade of living giraffes as well as skins, paws, hairs, tails, skulls and other parts of the fallen queen of savanna was accepted by 106 votes in favour, 21 against and 7 abstentions.
Giraffes
Giraffes are in freefall. Their listing to CITES’ Appendix II will be reviewed in Geneva this week. For hunters, zoos as well as animal skulls or exotic carpets lovers, giraffes are still freely accessible, without any administrative hassle.
