The Gulf Jash, ex- Probo Koala, is anchored in Halong Bay, Vietnam. Today, June 3rd GMS, U.S. based ship broker, denies ownership of the ship. Under this hypothesis, it is for Dubai based Gulf Navigation, owner of the ex- Probo Koala since 2006, to clarify the conditions of the sale and the destination of the vessel.

In accordance with Robin des Bois’ (“Robin Hood” international association based in Paris) press release published May 17th 2011, the Equasis database displays, since May 31st that the Gulf Jash ex-Probo Koala, the Gulf Ahmadi ex-Probo Bison and the Gulf Shagra ex-Probo Panda are indeed “to be broken up”.

The ex-Probo Koala has been banned from entering into Bangladesh’s territorial waters since May 27th. The Bangladesh authorities were informed by Robin des Bois on May 17th, of the vessels immanent arrival to Chittagong ship-breaking yards.
Robin des Bois had also informed the appropriate authorities in India and Pakistan on May 31st 2011 on the possibility that the vessel could be directed towards their countries. Charlotte Nithart, spokes person for Robin des Bois stated that: “The ex-Probo Koala should be directed towards an American or European shipyard where health and safety standards would be guaranteed as well as satisfactory transparency for this doomed vessel”.
