Nuclear power: Slovakian power plants fill their tanks
On March 1, an Ilyushin-76TD of Volga-Dnepr Airlines specialized in the transport of heavy load flew over Poland with NATO authorization to transport new nuclear fuel to Slovakia. It left Domodedovo Airport in Moscow, flew around Ukraine, over Belarus and through Polish airspace to land in Bratislava. According to IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) rules, only small urgent packages, such as short-lived radiopharmaceuticals, can be transported by air. The potential crash of an airplane carrying nuclear fuel exposes the population and the environment to considerable risks. There are two nuclear power plants in Slovakia: Bohunice, with two active 505 MW reactors, and Mochovce, with two 470 MW reactors and one 501 MW.

On the same day, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced a ban on overflight of the European Union for all Russian aircrafts, both registered in Russia or controlled by Russia.

Gas: the European Union is filling up
The ice class LNG carrier, Christophe de Margerie, which was expected to dock in Montoir-de-Bretagne, has instead unloaded at the LNG Terminal in Rotterdam and is heading back to Siberia. Similarly, the Boris Vilkitsky vessel unloaded at the Montoir LNG Terminal on Saturday afternoon. She left on Sunday. The Rudolf Samoylovich is expected in Montoir-de-Bretagne tomorrow. She will be followed by the Yakov Gakkel on Saturday, March 12. The Montoir LNG Terminal in the Loire estuary has never received so many ice class LNG carriers from Siberia in such a short time. The Boris Davydov arrived today, Monday, March 7, at the Dunkirk LNG Terminal. For the record, these LNG carriers are sister ships and each carry 177,000 m3 of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), i.e. a little more than 100 million m3 in gaseous form.

Arrival of the Boris Vilkitsky in Saint-Nazaire, at 6:00 pm on March 5, 2022. DR
