A few days after Russia’s attempted invasion of Ukraine, the NGO Robin des Bois (Robin Hood) was the first, or among the first, to stress the urgent need to impose the inviolability of nuclear sites in war zones that international diplomacy has been unable to prevent (1).

The NGO Robin des Bois will be the first, or among the first, to declare the attacks on Iranian nuclear sites by Israel and the United States of America unbearable. After the “(Israeli) rising lion” falling on Iran, the “(American) midnight hammer” struck the country. Several million inhabitants of towns and villages, fishermen, breeders and farmers are threatened by the radioactive fallout from the destruction, completed or uncompleted, of Iran’s nuclear facilities, notably at Fordo (Qom Province), Arak (Markazi Province), Isfahan and Natanz (Isfahan Province), and Tehran (Tehran Province). The environment, water resources, forests, crops, the terrestrial food chain and the marine food chain of the Caspian Sea and biodiversity such as wild goats, falcons, Persian leopards and brown bears are also threatened by long-lasting, dispersive and possibly delayed contamination.

The threat is not only radioactive, but also chemical, since the nuclear industry uses chemical substances in particular for uranium enrichment, whatever the degree of enrichment.

The NGO Robin des Bois points out that several research laboratories on every continent, including Europe, produce uranium enriched to 20%, 45%, 60% or even more. Most of these laboratories claim to be working on medical research or to develop fuel for fast-neutron reactors.

In any case, the “Iranian atomic bomb” is an “impossible” bomb. Its use on a territory of around 20,000 km2, the area of Israel, would inevitably disperse its long-lasting and deadly fallout to all the neighbouring countries, especially Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Palestine, as well as to the eastern Mediterranean.

Robin des Bois deplores Trump’s rhetoric, thanking God after this exploit and calling on God to protect the great army of the United States of America. God, whoever he is, if he exists, is for life, against war and nuclear apocalypse.
